Management of stroke is important as it prevent the person from other risk factors associated with it.  The first part is activating EMS and taking the patient  to Stroke Hospital.   Acute management focuses on complete Initial evaluation laboratory studies and imaging in a short time.  There have been many advances in stroke care.  Acute care management moves from a universal time window approach to a brain tissue preservation approach.  Specifically, preserving cerebral blood flow, the penumbra and reducing the risk of a second event. Minimizing the initial effect of stroke changes the outcome and leads to an increased likelihood of functional independence.  In this presentation, recent updates of acute ischemic stroke management in regards to  mechanical thrombectomy as well as thrombolytics will be discussed.
